CEO message – August 2024
A message from Janise Mitchell
Dear supporters,
We are excited to share with you some of the incredible work happening across the Foundation, including Katy’s story, a young girl who found hope and support after deeply struggling in a family challenged by intergenerational family violence.
Your dedication and commitment to our organisation and purpose has allowed us to continue to change the lives of children and young people through our National Therapeutic Counselling program.
We are also excited to inform you of our continued commitment to the prevention of abuse and exploitation before it happens in a relatively new area, On Us: The Australian Business Coalition for Safeguarding Children, which is working towards ensuring all businesses are committed to keeping children and young people safe in our community.
Your support has also enabled us to focus on helping children recovering from the devastating effects of family violence to express their emotions through art. The 'My Feeling Heart' project saw children and young people from across Australia give the public a glimpse into their feeling hearts through drawings they made, raising awareness about family violence by providing insight into their experiences. Animator and designer Isobel Knowles created an animation lifting the children’s drawings off the page.
We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our supporters who contributed to the 2024 tax appeal. Your generosity ensures we can continue providing specialised care to some of Australia’s most vulnerable children. If you haven’t yet had the chance to donate, it’s not too late. Together we can make a difference to the lives of children who have experienced trauma from abuse, neglect, and family violence.
As we enter into the second half of the year, I want to once again thank you for your ongoing support of not just us, but of the children and young people we work with. You are a vital part of our community and are helping us provide the life-changing support that children need to overcome the devastating effects of trauma. Your support empowers us to advocate for those who need to be heard, and to implement changes that protect and defend children in our communities.
Please now continue to read through our fantastic Impact Newsletter and find out more about what the Foundation has been doing since we last updated you.
With our warmest thanks,
Janise Mitchell
