Helping
children
in times
of crisis
Our children know big
world problems exist.
Children remain at the heart of everything we do
Serious issues like conflict, disaster and climate change can cause fear, worry and anxiety, even for very young children. Without parents always being aware, children and young people may be exposed to news and media relating to big global problems.
Below are several resources to help parents and carers support children and young people in making sense of some current issues around them.
A message to our community
We at the Foundation are committed to the children we support. When global issues occur, all of us face a great deal of uncertainty. All children deserve to enjoy a life free from harm; to grow with safety, love and dignity.
For over 30 years, we have worked to address childhood trauma, enabling communities to wrap around children and provide the support they need.Â
We help children in our programs to find healing and to recovery. Reducing their sense of fear and anxiety, they find calm and hope. For the first time, they recognise who they are beyond their bad experiences.Â
There is strength in our community, even in the face of such uncertainty. We need to believe it first – so that our children can believe us as well.
