Developing child protection policies
The Australian Childhood Foundation has been at the forefront of advocating for policies that ensure the safety of children from abuse and exploitation in all organisations with a role in supporting, educating or caring for children. We have developed child protection policies for service clubs, sporting clubs, welfare and health organisations and children's activity clubs.
These policies include:
- pre-employment screening checks for employees and volunteers
- creating child-friendly and child safe organisations
- reporting protocols for suspected child abuse
- criminal investigation policies
- trauma recovery procedures for children following disclosures of abuse
- support guidelines for employees and volunteers for dealing with challenging behaviour by traumatised children.
