SMART Professional Development Package for Schools
Understanding and Transforming Trauma: A SMART Professional Development Package for Schools
This package provides an overview of the key concepts covered in the SMART training program. It is designed to be run as a 2 hour staff meeting session. It can also be extended to a 4 hour (or 2 x 2 hour) session.
The package is designed to be facilitated by School Counsellors who have completed the SMART 2 day training workshop or package.
The learning objectives of the package are:
- To provide participants with an overview of the impact of abuse related trauma on children and young people.
- To consider how to enhance whole school responses to traumatised students.
- To learn practical strategies for supporting individual children who have experienced abuse related trauma.
- To develop a plan for further action and knowledge building for key individuals within your school community.
The package contains a powerpoint presentation, facilitators notes and participant handouts.

SMART Online Learning Package
The SMART online learning package covers the content delivered in the two day SMART workshop. This easy to use, flexible package is divided into modules and is designed for:
- School and early education professionals unable to attend the SMART workshops
- chool and early education professionals who have attended the training and wish to refresh their learning, and
- All school and early education staff who wish to undertake the training as a way of disseminating the learning throughout the broader education environment.
