The SMART Discussion Forums provide a unique opportunity to further consider and explore the issues facing schools in their support of traumatised children and young people. The Forums will examine specific themes and up to date research findings relevant to responding to the needs of children who have experienced abuse related trauma. It builds on and incorporates much of the two day seminar content.
The discussion forums are a chance for all education professionals and others to share information and explore examples of practice that are currently occurring in the education environment and elsewhere with traumatised children and young people.
How will the Discussion Forums happen?
The forums will run for two weeks and be moderated by the SMART team on this web page. Each forum will focus on a different issue.
Dates for forums in 2008
Week 4, Term 1- week beginning 25th February
Week 4, Term 2- week beginning 26th May
Week 4, Term 3- week beginning 18th August
Week 3, Term 4- week beginning 3rd November
How do I participate?
You can register your interest in the forums by registering for updates on this website.
In the lead up to the forum you will receive notification that a forum is soon to commence and details about the forum topic.
During the forum, participating is easy. You participate by writing your thoughts, ideas, questions and responses directly onto the forum input page. The moderation will review all contributions and post them onto the discussion page. The moderator will attempt to keep the discussion on track. In rare cases, not all contributions will be posted by the moderator. However, all thoughts or comments are valuable and appreciated by all who participate in the forum.
In order to post a comment you will need to supply your name and email address.
Discussion Forum Archives
After the closing date of a Discussion Forum, you will be able to go back and read the feedback on the topic. You will be able to provide your own contribution. However, no new postings will be added to the Forums after the specified closing date.If you are having difficulty accessing the Discussion Forum or would like further information, contact the SMART Team at smart@childhood.org.au.
