What we achive
The Australian Childhood Foundation has at the core of it vision the hope that all Australians wants to be involved in making sure that children have a happy and safe childhood. We achieve what we do for children because of your support and your commitment to protecting children from violence. In this section, you can read about our programs and what we have accomplished.
A snapshot of our achievements over the past ten years...
- We have provided specialist counselling to 3000 children who have suffered significant trauma as a result of abuse and family violence.
- We have distributed 400 000 parenting resource booklets nationally. These resources are available in 13 different languages as a Talking Book.
- We have established the National Research Centre for the Prevention of Child Abuse at Monash University in partnership with the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.
- We have provided training to more than 7000 professionals about child abuse, family violence and trauma nationally, including four national conferences and three national seminar tours with international experts.
- We have successfully advocated for changed laws that have resulted in better protection of children from abuse and family violence. For example, we have lobbied for the introduction of mandatory reporting of child abuse, the establishment of a national sex offender register, and the introduction of screening of people working with children.
